Gray Gloves

Gray Gloves knitted for my brother in law. From "Weekend Knitting". I have made this pattern many times, but I think only 3 times in the Men's size.
This yarn is rough and scratchy. I don't remember what brand it is, but I did do a burn test to confirm it is wool. I hope to make another pair this year for my other brother in law.

Other knitting news; Still waiting for the right moment to pick up stitches for the collar on the Baby Sophisticate jacket.

Laptop Case (Belated Finished Project) and Clutch

Here is our laptop case I don't think I fully posted about. I made it with a bottom-weight twill gray fabric that worked really well for the project. This project is based on this tutorial, yay for online tutorials!

I added a pocket on the outside for our cables so we could have it all together. Check out the Red Velcro! The outside pocket fabric is white flannel with pink snowflakes. The inner lining is cassette tape flannel - awesome! of course this case has a few imperfections, but it is awesome and very functional. (And Manly enough for my husband,)

Okay, here is a clutch I was making many months ago from the book : Sew What You Love. My biggest issue I guess is that I didn't realize I was making such a big clutch. It is so big I probably won't use it. But I did learn some construction things and with a better fabric and better sewing perhaps it would be lovely. I think a stiffer fabric that maybe didn't show all the pleats through the top fabric might be good. I was going to attach large snaps instead of the recommended velcro. But now it has been sitting for many months. Maybe I will just attach velcro. Also, just a thought. Maybe if I attached a strap I would like it better? We'll see.
Duck fabric as the lining - Yep.

Bag.

Basically i'm getting a little obsessed about sewing... getting library books, reading blogs, dreaming about learning to sew better. Today i'm working on a purse. I really like the pattern, though it's turning out a little bigger than i expected.i started sewing it on monday and today finished the lining, pocket, and the straps. the pocket was sewn in a very interesting way.

anyway. I'm really working on trying to get through my stashes of yarn and fabric. and trying to not buy more. ha. i know it is working, but seems slow, and sometimes i need to buy something to finish a project, and then i risk seeing other awesome stuff i want to buy.
so... here is a finished project! Simplicity 2685 view B. I like it, though it was bigger than i expected. i learned by just how it was constructed.

Sidenote: i passed my driver's test today. it has been many years of trying to avoid learning, but this summer i have become more confident, and i passed today! (if you know me, you'll know that last year (or was it two) i failed.
i drove myself to the bank today. i know it might be a while till i feel confident to go across town by myself, but i'm really happy! yay!
